What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a gel-like material that is naturally present throughout the human body. It is a viscous jelly-like fluid that helps with lubrication of the joints, such as the knees. It also helps with the development and growth of the cartilage and the bones that make the joint.

Hyaluronic acid also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent by reducing inflammation in the joints. This, in turn, also reduces pain caused by injury and degeneration of the joint tissue.

Hyaluronic Acid for Joint Inflammation:

The joint diseases that hyaluronic acid treats include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and adhesive capsulitis, commonly known as frozen shoulder. It also helps treat ankle sprain and lateral epicondylitis, also known as tennis elbow.

          1. Osteoarthritis

Hyaluronic acid is most commonly used to treat knee osteoarthritis. Research suggests that taking hyaluronic acid oral supplements helps treat some osteoarthritic patients with mild knee pain. (1) Hyaluronic acid may decrease the inflammation caused by wearing and tearing of the cartilage and bone in osteoarthritic joints. Hyaluronic acid helps to restore lubrication of the joints and stimulates the growth of new cartilage and bone tissue in the joints. These supplements can also treat osteoarthritis of the knee, shoulder, ankle, hip, and thumb joints. (2)

          2. Frozen Shoulder

Hyaluronic acid supplements may also help relieve stiffness in a frozen shoulder. Researchers have claimed that this may be because of hyaluronic acid’s effects in decreasing swelling and inflammation of the synovial membrane.

          3. Rheumatoid Arthritis

A recent scientific study has shown that hyaluronic acid injections might prevent and manage the inflammation and synovitis in the joints of the ankle and feet caused by rheumatoid arthritis. Moreover, taking daily supplements of hyaluronic acid also helps in relieving the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis to an extent.

          4. Tennis Elbow

Hyaluronic acid decreases the chronic degeneration of the lateral epicondyle tendon, which causes a condition known as tennis elbow. The effect of the hyaluronic acid injection for tennis elbow has been further evaluated in a study, which has concluded by stating that a single injection of HA can help to manage mild to moderate pain associated with lateral epicondylitis. (3)

What Do Clinical Studies Say About Hyaluronic Acid?

Researchers have claimed that hyaluronic acid intake of 80–200 mg per day for at least two months significantly reduces knee pain in individuals with osteoarthritis, especially those between 40 and 70 years of age. (4)
Some studies have shown that eating all-natural oral hyaluronic acid supplements daily with injections can help to relieve pain for a longer time and decrease the need for shots again and again. (2) In two studies, it has been shown that hyaluronic acid oral supplements can help decelerate the rate of bone loss in rats with decreased bone mass class osteopenia. (5)(6) High doses of hyaluronic acid can increase the activity of bone-forming cells called osteoblasts. (7)

The Bottom Line

It is apparent that hyaluronic acid natural supplements can have multiple health benefits if taken on a daily basis. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory and pain reliever for diseases of the joints, skin, and inflammation in the body.

Safe and Healthy Supplements to Consider

For many, taking healthy all-natural supplements is the first step towards a healthier life. Plenty of natural supplements are available in the market.

This article will help you to understand the importance of natural supplements and will make it easier for you to select which supplement is best for your daily supplement regimen.

          1.) Proteins:

Protein is an essential macronutrient and critical for our overall health. It is the main constituent of the muscles in our bodies. Therefore, it is important to ingest adequate amounts of protein to help maintain muscle mass and promote muscle growth. Various studies show that including plenty of protein in the diet helps increase muscle mass and strength. (1) (2)

High protein intake has not only helped to boost metabolism. It also increases the number of calories one is able to burn. (3) Studies have also shown that including sufficient dietary protein in the diet can even help strengthen immunity.

Some studies have claimed that protein deficiency leads to increased susceptibility to infectious diseases. (4) A low protein intake increases the risk for osteoporosis and bone loss through adulthood. Since proteins have a role in both bone and muscle strength, everyone can find benefits from consuming protein supplements on a daily basis. (5)

          2.) Omega-3 Fatty Acid:

Naturally, omega-3 fatty acids are available in fish, nuts, and seeds. This is a supplement that everyone should add to their diet due to its high immune-boosting effects. Researchers have shown that omega-3 fatty acids help to support the cardiovascular system and improve joint function, such as in rheumatological diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. It also helps to improve mood and brain health, decreases allergies, and supports the overall immune system. Omega-3 fatty acids also lead to modest decreases in blood pressure. (6)

          3.) Vitamin D:

Vitamin D helps build and support bone strength by enhancing calcium absorption. It can also help manage certain mood disorders, including depression and seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Studies have also shown beneficial effects of Vitamin D in individuals with heart disease, patients with weakened immune systems, and memory issues. (7) (8) It also helps in pregnancy by keeping mothers and babies healthy. Some of the latest studies have suggested that Vitamin D can also reduce the risk of cancer because it decreases cell multiplication and acts as a potent anti-inflammatory agent.

Notable Mentions:

Some other supplements that one should consider consuming regularly include Magnesium and Vitamin C. Daily intake of magnesium helps to regulate the intestinal activity, the nervous system, and the nourishment of bones and minerals. Moreover, regular consumption of Vitamin C, a natural antioxidant, helps to reduce oxidative stress, helps in the production of collagen, and strengthens the immune system.

The human body requires certain live microorganisms for its normal functioning. Several body systems rely on these microbes for their maintenance.

Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that can be obtained from supplements and fermented foods. Under normal conditions, your body has enough gut bacteria to maintain its state of health.

However, an imbalance in the homeostatic regulation of these microorganisms can lead to several diseases. Probiotics help prevent these unfortunate circumstances. Besides, they don’t cause any harm to your body. So, it’s safe to consume these supplements even in a healthy state.

In this article, we will explore the numerous advantages of taking probiotics supplements. We will study their effects on different body systems and their role in preventing various illnesses and inflammation. So, let’s take a look at the key benefits of consuming probiotics.

1.) Highly Effective in Treating Diarrhea

Homeostatic regulatory mechanisms enable your gut to maintain the balance between good and bad bacteria. Antibiotics can disrupt and impair this regulation resulting in diarrhea.

A systematic review involving several studies and clinical trials assessing the impact of probiotics showed significant improvement in digestive function in patients with antibiotic-associated diarrhea. In addition to treating diarrhea, they can also help prevent further conditions.

Studies have also shown that such supplements help restore the balance in gut bacteria. Therefore, they can be used in medical nutrition therapy.

2.) May Aid in Curing Eczema

Although there isn’t enough research to establish a direct link between the use of probiotics supplements and prevention of eczema, some studies have shown surprisingly positive results in infants and children.

A recent study involving 27 infants revealed that those who were fed milk supplemented with probiotics showed significant improvement in the symptoms of eczema.

However, more research is needed to validate the efficacy of probiotics in treating eczema and reducing the severity of other allergies.

3.) May Boost Your Immune Function

Probiotics play a potential role in controlling the growth of bad bacteria in the gut. They can prevent or shorten the duration of certain infections depending on their dose and strain.

Moreover, some probiotics supplements are actively involved in enhancing the production of certain antibodies and strengthening your immune system.

4.) Help Manage Symptoms of Gut Diseases

A growing body of nutritionists recommends taking probiotics supplements to treat gut disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, lactose intolerance, and inflammatory bowel diseases.

According to a literature review published in 2010, the use of probiotics alleviates painful symptoms including stomach ache, bloating, constipation, and gas. It is also effective in treating mild ulcerative colitis. However, it affects the symptoms of Crohn’s disease to a small extent.

          5.) Prevent Cardiovascular Disorders

The incidence of heart disease is dependent upon the concentration of LDL or bad cholesterol in the blood. Probiotics have been found to reduce the amount of cholesterol by breaking down bile components in the gut.

An analysis of multiple studies showed that consuming probiotic yogurt for 2-8 weeks lowered LDL cholesterol levels by 5%.

The Bottom Line

Probiotics are undoubtedly a healthy addition to your diet. They can enhance the function of the digestive, immune, and respiratory systems of the body. Above all, they are safe for consumption under all circumstances.

The human heart is one of the most important organs in the human body. Our heart pumps blood into the body via a network of vessels. We must maintain the optimum contractility of the heart and keep the blood vessels clear so that the heart can pump blood into the body. The prevalence of coronary artery disease of the heart and peripheral vessels is very high nowadays. Their incidence can be reduced by eating a more nutritious diet and by taking natural substances that have been shown to improve heart health. Keep reading to learn more about some of the most “heart-healthy” natural supplements:
          1.) Multivitamins

Multivitamins are considered to be dietary supplements with three or more vitamins or minerals. Studies have shown that there is an inverse relation between multivitamins intake and the incidence of coronary heart diseases. Especially vitamin D, which can protect against Myocardial infarction.

          2.) CoQ10

CoQ10 is an excellent anti-oxidant and is known for its anti-inflammatory effects. Co-enzyme Q10 supplementation improves the functional capacity of the heart and also proved to be useful in post-heart failure patients.

          3.) Omega 3 Fatty Acids

It is well proven that omega 3 fatty acids are good lipids and they improve the overall health of the body. Omega 3 fatty acid supplements are proven to be beneficial for the secondary prevention of heart diseases.

          4.) Fiber

It’s a historically proven fact that fiber helps the digestive tract. However, new research has shown that fiber also has a positive influence on the heart.

          5.) Magnesium

Magnesium acts at the cellular level by decreasing the body’s intracellular sodium and calcium, thus increasing heart contractility and potassium intake.

          6.) L-Carnitine

L-carnitine is a metabolite that burns excessive fats in our body, and it may have a role in increasing cardiac mechanical efficiency.

There are lots of artificial skincare products on the market. But did you know that there are tons of natural food products that you can add to your diet to support healthy skin?

Your skin needs certain properties to be healthy and beautiful. Proteins, water, vitamin C, and micronutrients like zinc and copper, are the most important nutrients for healthy skin. When considering proteins, they don’t need to be animal proteins. Plant-based proteins are also able to supply amino acids for healthy skin.

Read on to discover great diet options to support healthy skin:

          1.) Water:

Beautiful skin that has that characteristic glare mainly comes from hydration. You may have noticed that dehydration can cause the skin to peel. Most of the artificial skin applications have water. So before adding other foods to your diet, drink plenty of water.

          2.) Chicken and Eggs:

Chicken and egg whites are often some of the cheapest animal protein options available. They also contain collagen, which is the main protein responsible for skin health. The dermis and epidermis are structured and strongly bound with collagen proteins. It strengthens the skin and also gives elasticity to the skin.

          3.) Legumes and Beans:

These are the best plant-based food protein supplements. Although plant-based proteins are less bioavailable, they are good substitutes for vegans. They also contain lots of minerals and micronutrients like zinc. When eating legumes, it’s better to use fermenting legumes as they have more bio-availability.

          4.) Oily Fish:

Salmon and sardines are good oily fish to eat They are rich in omega 3 fatty acids. Fatty acids are capable of building cell membranes of the animal cell. Healthy cell membranes are very important for beautiful glowing skin.

          5.) Citrus Fruits:

Vitamin C-rich citrus fruits are another food supplement for healthy skin. Vitamin C improves collagen protein production and also improves micronutrients like iron. Therefore, adding lemon, orange, or any other citrus fruits to your daily foods can produce positive results.

          6.) Green Leaves:

These foods have a higher number of vitamins, zinc, and copper. These micronutrients are responsible for better cellular functions as most of these functions are maintained with ionic levels. Also, zinc is capable of building strong cellular connections and cell structure.

          7.) Berries and Tomatoes:

Antioxidants are the most important components in these foods which help to improve skin properties. Reactive oxygen products can damage our cells. Antioxidants are able to neutralize these harmful products, resulting in improved skin cell health.

In addition to antioxidants, berries and tomatoes have lots of micronutrients as well.

The Bottom Line

By changing your food habits, you can experience great results in your skin’s improvement. Add these foods to your weekly diet in addition to your regular skincare routine, and watch your skin glow!
